The inaugural “Zero (miles) to Hero” training rides finished this week with session 5 consisting of some group riding drills.
The “Heroes” (in waiting) all picked it up very quickly, expertly guided by the Coach. Mike has been a star over these sessions and his expertise and knowledge are invaluable. We are very fortunate to have him in the club.
As well as thanking Mike, the Committee’s appreciation also goes out to all the helpers that have chipped in and made this the success it has been, with out their input none of this would have happened, thanks guys 🙂
The group completed the 20 or so miles and we called at Lotherton Hall on the way back where Richard (the membership secretary) produced some home made lemon and walnut cake (just wow ! ) while the heroes were presented with their well earned club membership cards (pictured above).
Thinking back to that first wet and miserable session you have all done amazingly well, it’s been great to see you grow in confidence, ability and strength and noticeable how the general speed of the rides has increased. You have all persevered and its been great to see your smiling faces as you discover that you love cycling.
The format has proven to work and it seems likely we will run a similar course before the second Invitation Ride of the year in August.
