Sunday 12th August marked the second Invitation Ride of the year and with lots of rain forecast for the morning of the ride all week, some hardy souls turned up with their flippers in hand and expecting a soaking.
Thankfully the rain had cleared before the 30 riders departed for Birkin via Swillington, Allerton Bywater, Fairburn, Brotherton and back through Hillam, Monk Fryston, Sherburn and Barwick.
We clocked up just over 30 miles at an appropriate speed to not rip anyone’s legs off and some good group riding later we arrived at the Cafe ready for cake. Re-fueled and a couple of tyres given a bit more P.S.I. with the use of Birkins track pump, oh actually, one riders valve didn’t fit but the Coach and Dave were on hand to give it some elbow grease.
The weather was kind all day and great riding conditions, provided lots of smiles during the miles 😉
Really nice to meet the new riders and see them embrace everything bike (and cake). Well done guys and we will see you on another ride soon 🙂
A big thank you to the ride leaders for a smooth execution, the Wheelers that helped out on the day and the cafe for looking after a big group.
