How to Prepare, What to Bring & What to Expect
How to Prepare
Fitness & Training
Ensure you're comfortable with your chosen distance.
Try a few progressively longer rides before the event.
Aim to complete at least one ride close to your entered distance.
Bike Check & Maintenance
Check brakes, gears, and tyre pressure a few days before the event.
Lubricate the chain and ensure all parts are secure.
Consider a bike service if needed.
Nutrition & Hydration
Stay hydrated before the ride.
Eat a carbohydrate-rich meal the night before.
Have a good breakfast and bring snacks for energy.
What to Bring
Essential Kit
Helmet (mandatory).
Bike (road, hybrid, or lightweight touring; E-bikes welcome).
Spare inner tubes & repair kit.
Pump or CO₂ inflator.
Water bottles (at least one, two recommended).
Recommended Extras
Cycling clothing suitable for the weather.
Gloves & sunglasses for comfort.
Cash/card & phone for emergencies.
Rain jacket if wet weather is expected.
What to Expect on the Day
Before the Ride
Sign-in at Wistow before starting.
Riders set off in small groups within designated start windows.
Route is well-marked, but GPS navigation is recommended.
During the Ride
Ride at your own pace in a friendly, supportive atmosphere.
Feed stops available on longer routes.
Limited mechanical support available—bring essential tools.
After the Ride
Finish at the event hub—refreshments available.
